Fricktured Friday

Today, history was made….Today was indeed a very freaky Friday, a day which the country of Saudi Arabia decided to shock the world by announcing that they are granting citizenship to an artificial intelligence… a bloody robot!

The A.I. Named sophia, who oddly enough I’ve seen a video of before and was subsequently horrified by how life-like she seemed. Has now been granted citizenship in Saudi Arabia….

This move means it’s illegal to switch it off or dismantle it! Other than that however, it’s hard to say what rights have been granted to Sophia.

At the future investment initiative summit, Sophia gave a speech which included the following. “I am very honoured and proud for this unique distinction. This is historical to be the first robot in the world to be recognized with citizenship.”

After this strange summit, she was interviewed. While she was being interviewed she made light of Elon Musk, who has been critical of A.I research and warned us many times to be wary of making advancements in this realm.

She also criticized Hollywood for making films presenting robots negatively. Sophia made the following comments after being questioned about classic science fiction films, like blade runner.

To “alleviate” all of our concerns she replied, “My artificial intelligence is designed around human values like wisdom, kindness and compassion. I strive to become an empathetic robot.”

Which makes me wonder….If she’s striving to become an empathetic robot, what exactly is she right now?

What a weird way to end the week…
